German to English translations [PRO]

German term or phrase: Urlaubscocktail
not in the sense of a drink but rather in the sense of a combination of wonderful things coming together
"romantische Gässchen ... bistros... beach clubs..... mixen einen Urlaubscocktail, den es so auf dieser Welt nur einmal gibt."

I'm dithering as to whether I can use cocktail here in English too. "... come together to create a holiday cocktail".
I don't like it somehow. Grateful for any other ideas.

English translation:an ideal mix
Explanation:
I live on St. Maarten in the Caribbean and so many tourist resorts promote themselves as the "ideal mix" of holiday activities. The word "mix" brings to mind a lovely cocktail/mixed drink while also being a lively and energetic term ("blend" is less lively, as it is too close to "bland").

potpourri

Explanation:
Paricularly if it's a foreign holiday - amongst the many definitions for this word: a mixture of various objects that are unrelated to each other.

disagree  Anja Wulf: The objects in this description ARE related to each other and are intended to complement each other, as in a perfect cocktail :)

-> Having mixed, invented and drunk enough cocktails to just about fill an average oil tanker, I find your use of the word "complement" somewhat indicative of a scant personal knowledge of cocktails!

agree  BrigitteHilgner: That's how I see it, too - people who like romantische Gässchen don't necessarily head for the beach club.

make for a perfect holiday blend

Explanation:
This even shows up on Google.

If you don't like the word perfect, try terrific.

(holiday/vacation) cocktail

Explanation:
I think this metaphor works perfectly well in English, so you should respect the author's intentions. You could even take a few liberties as it's a marketing text, and say something like "... provide all the ingredients for a potent and colorful cocktail." You could leave out "holiday/vacation", as it's obvious from the context.

Explanation:
Or: a vacation experience like no other

to make sure that "das es auf der Welt nur einmal gibt" comes across in English.
