seems to be as official as it gets, although whether this would fit your average road-sign is quite another matter....
Here, at least, is an official use of the term, from completely the other end of the island:

Explanation:
The Lärmschutzzone could be called quiet area or quiet zone (see Web ref.) but there seems to be no official UK road sign to indicate this - I've searched the book "Know Your Traffic Signs" issued by the UK's Department for Transport.
