Explanation:
Clearly the number of times the point blades are moved from position "normal" to position "reversed". It has nothing to do with the number of wheels passing over them, so, yes: "switch etc. cyclea" would also be correct, but less common in railway parlance.

Clarity is offered by the writer's "...Messung der Umlaufzeiten zur Erkennung von Schwergang..."; it is timing the operation from "normal" to "revers" or v.v., in order to establish whether the points etc. are becoming sluggish in operation, possibly due to wear, thus causing the blades to bind against the slider or elsewhere.
