Tech/Engineering - Transport / Transportation / Shipping / rail drive system
German term or phrase: stufenlos
I have seen the translations for "stufenlos" in the KudoZ Open Glossary - but I'm not sure that "adjustably" or "smoothly" would fit here:

Mit dem kleinen Drehpotentiometer stufenlos die gewünschte Saugleistung einstellen.

Any suggestions welcome.

Translated sites often have "continuously"or "ïnfinitely"adjustable;
I don't see this in US docs.

Thanks. For my sentence, I put:
"Using the small rotary potentiometer, set the desired suction strength to requirements."

agree  Lori Dendy-Molz: This concept just generally isn't emphasized in English like it is in German (not sure why, though).

variable rotary potentiometer

Explanation:
I think it might be best to take it out of the adverb into an adjective. I agree that adjustably is a bit awkward.
It is easy to find info on potentiometers. The idea of stufenlos is implicit.

Explanation:
The setting is not limited by intervals. In a propoer context a simpler wording might be "precisely".
