... is one of several ways this sentence could be started, stressing the "mehrere" in the way that "gleich" does.

Depends rather on the 'feel' of the rest of the text - a simpler option such as "numerous", "many" or "several" could work, or on the other hand you style might call for something along the lines of "a host of..."

As Derek says below (and I tried to say above), "several" on its own could well do the job. Translating the sentence, rather than individual terms, might produce a more natural result: "choose from a host of Xs featuring the latest Ys..."

I think you can leave off "gleich" without a problem. It's meaning becomes obvious in "zur Auswahl" (IMHO).
