Sollte dem Zitat gemäß der Originalbegriff nicht "Seilendstück" heißen?

Man findet Literatur zu Seilendstück statt Endseilstück.

Da es sich möglicherweise um "cable ends" (wie vorgeschlagen) oder "rope ends" handelt, könnte dies vielleicht passen.
