German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Transport / Transportation / Shipping / Tram regulations | | German term or phrase: Zugsicherung | "(11) Absperrvorrichtungen nach Absatz 10 müssen mit Zugsicherungsanlagen verbunden
This should give some idea. It is obviously some kind of automatic safety system for tramway operations, but what is it called in English? |

| | ATPS/AWS/ATC/TWPS | Explanation: take your pick. There are lot of these systems and the name you choose tends to tend on the way they operate
Automatic Train Control system (ATC)
Automatic Warning System (AWS)
Automatic Train Protection System (ATPS)
TWPS Train Warning Protection System
the most generic thing I can think of is: Automatic Train Command/Control System
You can probably find this sort of stuff under "Eurodicautom" since the good old railway dictionary was loaded on to that site

| Grading comment Well, Eurodicautom has "train protection", and gives a description (in German) that matches what is going on in my text. So you get the points for suggesting Eurodicautom.
I know I am supposed to wait 24 hours, but it's getting urgent and I haven't got time to cheryl around.
BTW Eurodicautom is just as much a pain in the arse to use as I remember it, but there is some useful stuff there. 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |

Asker: Thanks! Is Eurodicautom back online? I got out of the habit of using it! I'll go and look for it.
