TWPS Train Warning Protection System
the most generic thing I can think of is: Automatic Train Command/Control System
You can probably find this sort of stuff under "Eurodicautom" since the good old railway dictionary was loaded on to that site

| Grading comment Well, Eurodicautom has "train protection", and gives a description (in German) that matches what is going on in my text. So you get the points for suggesting Eurodicautom.
I know I am supposed to wait 24 hours, but it's getting urgent and I haven't got time to cheryl around.
BTW Eurodicautom is just as much a pain in the arse to use as I remember it, but there is some useful stuff there.
