I have understood the Flitzer as forklifts/forklift trucks so far, but how can I distinguish them correctly from the (Gabel)stapler in other parts of the text? Background - presentation of a Voice Picking system.

TIA

tractor
Explanation:
A Flitzer appears to be a small Schlepper -- a kind of industrial tractor used in factories for pulling material across a factory floor. Whereas the Stapler is used for stacking (vertical transfer), the Flitzer is used for relocation and horizontal displacement on the floor.

In reply to the Asker's note: I do not believe that a Flitzer has lifting capacity (not a lift); nor do I believe that it has -- other than the driver, of course -- any carrying capacity (not a truck). Rather, it is vehicle used solely for pulling (a tractor).

By the way, my research revealed that these vehicles are sometimes modified and used in sporting events. This suggests that they are quick and versatile and probably only used for quick maneuvering on the factory floor. The "bobby car", a child's play toy, is a direct derivative.

Look on page 7 for something called a Schlepper P60.

You might also like to try the word "tow-car". This would capture both the idea of the tractor (vehicle for pulling) and the idea of a light versatile, highly maneuverble vehicle (a car).
