German to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Transport / Transportation / Shipping
German term or phrase:Ausschau auf EG 1993
This is from a reference for a person employed by a shipping company in 1992. It is the last in a list of task she had to perform, the other including "Checking loading and unloading" and "Product quality, analysis".
Any ideas? Is EG 1993 some regulation that was about to come into force?
(extract):
" ... (b) Measures taken within the EU
A number of measures have also been taken at Community level in the fields of safety and pollution as well as the inspection of ships. These to a great extent build on or complement international IMO legislation. The Directive on port State control [13] covers the inspection of all ships and includes specific requirements relating to the inspection of tankers. Directive 94/57/EC establishes common rules and standards for ship inspection and classification societies and for the relevant activities of Administrations. [14]
[13] Council Directive 95/21/EC of 19 June 1995.
[14] Council Directive 94/57/EC of 22 November 1994.
The IMO Resolution relating to tonnage measurement of segregated ballast tanks (SBTs) is implemented in a Regulation [15] which provides for ships with SBTs to receive a reduction in port dues.
[15] Council Regulation (EC) No 2978/94 of 21 November 1994.
Vessels carrying dangerous or polluting goods to and from EU ports are required to report details of their cargoes under Directive 93/75/EEC. [16]
[16] Council Directive 93/75/EEC of 13 September 1993.
The proposed Directive on port reception facilities for ship generated waste and cargo residues [17] aims to ensure compliance with the provision under MARPOL that ports have to provide reception facilities. ..."
Robert - It actually appears to be a company that ships oil, not specifically by road, as most of the text actually seems to concern maritime shipping.
MMUlr - it's not a paragraph, unfortunately, just the last in a list (specifically of issues addressed in an in-service training course):
- Produktqualituaten, Analytik
- Zoll-, Steuer- und Bevorratungsrecht
- Lade und Löschkontrollen
- Ausschau auf EG 1993
Unfortunately, we have no context at all. But if it was indeed road haulage, I can very well imagine a person being busy in 1992 preparing the practical issues resulting from this regulatory framework. Please do provide more details.
"Council Regulation (EEC) No 881/92 of 26 March 1992 on access to the market in the carriage of goods by road within the Community ..." was a milestone in the regulatory environment for road haulage companies, applicable from 1993. Is this road haulage?
@Monbuckland, would you pls provide more of the *original German text*, the whole paragraph maybe ... And regarding EU legislation, you differ between council directives (e.g. 93/24/EG - engl. /EEC, or council regulations (e.g. 881/92).
or does it just mean that in 1993, one of this person's functions was to keep an eye ahead to developments in EC/EU ? Are you perhaps attaching 1993 to the wrong thing?
