German to English translations [PRO]
Transport / Transportation / Shipping
German term or phrase: Rutschennummer
Rutsch = chute according to Benz/Wessels logistics dictionary. Also the customer glossary uses this.

I'm translating Rutschennummer in a text about Abfertigung (dispatch) so the reference is to preparing the goods for dispatch:
Alle Packstücke, die eine WE (Wareneingang) Scannung in der eigenen DG (Distribution GmbH) haben, dürfen nicht fehlgemeldet werden. (Checkbox SU Haken setzen und Fahrer zum Suchen auffordern.) Wenn die Sortierung über einen Sorter stattfindet, ist die Rutschennummer dem Fahrer mitzuteilen.

Initially I thought something like a loading bay/dock for which each driver has a number (i.e. the goods for his delivery run will be placed there). But then the terminology points to "chute", perhaps it is a type of chute where the goods travel. Any ideas or confirmations?

Thanks in advance
