Bus/Financial - Transport / Transportation / Shipping / EAN codes & co. | | German term or phrase: KVE (Kleinste Verpackungseinheit) | I am currently working through a regulatory document for a warehousing firm and have run into this term.
Context is general - meaning that the term is mentioned once and then repeatedly referred to as KVE. The context is not end-user oriented, meaning that the text is referring literally to the smallest packaging size - but does not say for which purpose. This smallest unit then gets barcoded, etc.
Here's a typical usage:
"Auf jede KVE-Banderole ist einmal als maschinenlesbarer Barcode die Kombination aus „EAN Artikel-Nummer + größte individuelle Seriennummer“ aufzubringen."
I know that the EAN/UCC regs specify a "consumer unit" as the smallest item sold to end-users - but this isn't what KVE means, is it?
