German term or phrase: Basismengeneinheit und Unterverpackungsmenge
Little context other than an Excel sheet with these as headings.

But my problem is in fact not the words - I can render these OK I think - but I can't seem to find any acceptable abbreviations.

The text has BME and UVM respectively: are there any English equivalents?

My versions of BME and UVM are currently:

"base unit quantity" and "sub-packaging quantity".

Explanation:
Base Unit (BUOM)
The base unit of measure is defined as the unit that contains the lowest common denominator of the material and would generally be the unit of consumption. The BUOM is used for accounting, purchase requisitions and cross material purposes. It should take account of the fact that the BUOM is the stockkeeping unit and should satisfy the highest necessary requirement for accuracy. If a material item name is also an accepted unit of measure (eg. PAD, BOOK, SET, BOTTLE), then the BUOM cannot be the same as the material item name. In this latter case a BUOM of “EA” (for each) is acceptable.

I came across the term "sub-package unit" on this web page:

It should be noted that the preferred device 12 is designed to package 6 or 12 containers. In other words the package 10 may include two separate "6-pack" devices 12 or a single device l2 capable of retaining the cans in an array of 3 ranks and 2 rows or 3 ranks and 4 rows respectively, creating a sub-package unit.

"Unterverpackungsmenge" is possibly "sub-package unit"? Am not really sure here.
