Yes, I've seen it often on mail-order / online shopping sites. Obviously the prices of the postal services in Germany differentiate between the mainland and the islands. I think in Great Britain, Royal Mail committed themselves to equal prices for all deliveries including islands, but I'm not sure. |

Asker: So it really does refer to shipments made to islands, instead of the mainland? I did Google it before I asked, but wasn't able to find any sites that provided an explanation of the term or an English equivalent.
