German term or phrase: Notizschild
How would you call a "Notizschild" in the context of railway operation and control?

The term appears in a railway operation and control software manual:

"Typ=14: **Notizschildbedienungen**
Dieser Typ dient zur Protokollierung von **Notizschildbedienungen** (z.B. Hemmschuh)."

Des Pudels Kern: My colleague opted for "note sign", which is translated as "Notenzeichen" in dict.cc. – would a native speaker think of music when coming across "note sign" in a railway software manual?

Explanation:
Not a RR buff, but might this work? Usually, this is not one controlled by software, just some guy with a piece of chalk, but what with everything going digital, this might work for you.

Maybe something like the second link.

Notes to answerer
Asker: why not?

Asker: might "notice sign" work for a European audience?

Asker: ok, forget my last question (it's late here in Austria...) I think board is also widely used in UK, and US railway terms are making inroads...
