German term or phrase: Faltenbalg für Längsmitnahme
The terms Längsmitnahme and Längsmitnehmer ("Also called 'Längsmitnahme'") have cropped up before, but Längsmitnahme went unanswered. This is evidently something to do with the gangway bellows, but "gangway bellows for locking bar" seems very odd and sounds unlikely to me.

Explanation:
I am just providing another possibility. Not too sure if this is really the appropriate term. But it does sound better than bellows for locking bar.

No, I hadn't seen contitech.de. It was in the Leo forum. But since the answer was left unsubstantiated there, I was not too sure, even though I could find many google hits.

Asker: Thanks! Was that also on the basis of contitech.de or independently?

Explanation:

The invention relates to a rail vehicle comprising a pneumatically suspended waggon body (18), bogies (20) supporting said body (18), especially pneumatically suspended bogies without a bogie bolster, wherein waggon body (18) rests and swings out on a pneumatic spring (14), and guiding and damping devices (10,12) fitted between waggon body (18) and bogies (20). Damping devices are used to stabilize bogies (20) at running speeds v >100 km/hr and to attenuate hunting. A friction plate is provided as a guiding and damping device (10). Said plate is subjected to internal air pressure of pneumatic spring(14) on undercarriage (16) of wagon body (18). Friction plate (12) is hinged on centre of a safety spring (26) or at the base of pneumatic spring (14) and is longitudinally connected to bogie (20) and attenuates hunting thereof (20).

It is clearly a part that is fitted to help transmit loads and forces, for example brake force

I think that the whole idea is that it transmits force in the longitudinal direction

Asker: Merci beaucoup! That does indeed look very helpful.

Asker: Given that the friction plate is longitudinally connected to the bogie, perhaps we are talking about a "longitudinal connection"?
