German term or phrase: eingleisen
I know the standard translation is "to rerail" but this refers to placing a vehicle (adapted to railway, in this case a truck) on a track the first time. Rerail doesn't seem appropriate in this instance. Is there a particular term of art for this or will 'placing on rails" suffice?
I'm marking this non-pro, as it's probably easy for someone with expert subject-matter knowledge.
Thanks, Kevin

adapting to railmode
Explanation:
admittedly a made=up word, but with the context, this seems to work here

put on rails (placed on tracks)

Explanation:

At the work site or the nearest railway station, the rail-road vehicle is put on rails and can travel at a maximum speed of 4
km/h under own power.

Owing to its light weight it can easily be placed on tracks even without the aid of mechanical equipment.
