German term or phrase:Sternlenker
I presume this is part of a locomotive drivetrain. Oddly, I have been unable to find even 1 relevant Ghit even for the German term on its own, let alone in combination with "star" or "locomotive".

Leider zu spät für dieses Mal, da der Auftrag schon beim Kunden liegt, aber das scheint es zu sein, herzlichen Dank! 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
Can they reasonably be described as a single assy (assembly) though (as is apparently the case in the above example) or is that an exception rather than the norm?
der Sternlenker hat mehrere Funktionen:
Well, my context is very sparse as it is a list of items (in a table) specifying what needs to be painted/coated with what. Obviously, it may or may not be critical what gets painted red or grey or what gets corrosion-resistant paint and what doesn't. If you see any locos with parts that are looking off-colour, then it may be because whoever wrote the specifications didn't specify specifically enough.
In railway terms, "-lenker" is only used in "Achslenker", TTBOMK; "Stern-" in "Sterschaltung", so unless the "-lenker" is an alternative devised by some clever dick for "-schaltung", I've nothing to offer, except a request for actual context; what is it?

flexible drive-interface
Explanation: As stated I am really unsure about this, but it seems to me it is rather less than a "cardan-shaft", since it's interposed between the drive unit and the "Radsatz", so the use of "shaft" might well be wrong anyway.
I think a woolly expression like this might very well suit best here.
