Explanation:
All the "eye plates I can find are either patent texts - which have their own language, as does the railway - or they refer to snowmobiles or similar. I'm beginning to suspect your original text may be translated from another language, because "Augenplatten" doesn't show up much in google in a railway context either - they all seem to be "Hebeösen", like this one:
