German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Transport / Transportation / Shipping | | German term or phrase: langstatorwicklung Verlegezüge | This is from a letter of recommendation. It lists the various projects this engineer has been involved with.
Planungsüberwachung bei diversen Projekten im internationalen Großanlagenbau, wie z.B. Langstatorwicklung Verlegezüge, Schwefelrückgewinnungsanlangen, Neubau einer Kokerei.
And yes, it is spelled that way. I'm assuming there is a dash missing and it should be Langtatorwicklung-Verlegezüge. I have found "long stator drive" so far, and it seems to have something to do with magnetically suspended cars/trains. I'm assuming the Verlegezug is some sort of vehicle on the tracks that actually lays tracks, but for the life of me I can't find anything related to this term.
Are there any railway engineers among you?
Thanks in advance,
Andrea |

| | English translation:long stator winding laying vehicle | Explanation: For "Langstatorwicklung", the literal translation is correct: "long stator winding".
A "Verlegezug" in this context is a "laying vehicle".
Both terms appear together in relevant contexts (Maglev), for example here:
http://maglev.com.www65.your-server.de/uploads/2008/Propulsi...
I'm not at all sure whether this will work as a combined term, hence the low CL, maybe it can be divided into "laying vehicle for long stator windings" or something like that. I hope native speakers will help.
HTH,
regards,
Erik
