This is a text about delivering bottles:

Im Falle von grossen Mengen kann es aus Kostengruenden sinvoll sein, einen Anteil in 12-er-Kartons oder Schichtkartons (Stapelpalette) zu liefern.

Given the explanatory term in parentheses, I figured that "stackable boxes" might do the trick, but I'd welcome any other suggestions. :-)

Explanation:
I think it is pointing out different types (makes) of boxes. Possibly due to the different sizes of the boxes (?) that are used to fill a palette.

The above is ONE translation of "Schichtkarton". Don't know whether it fits.
