I would be grateful for any suggestions that you might have for "Auftrittschutz" in the following context relating to the re-design of a train, in general, and to a coupler hatch, in particular:

Darüber hinaus soll die Kupplungsklappe nicht in das Gehäuse hinein, sondern als Auftrittschutz des Gehäuses auf diesem positioniert werden. Somit wird es Personen erschwert, auf die vorgezogene Kupplung zu klettern.
