German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Transport / Transportation / Shipping / Rail tunnels
German term or phrase: Deckungssignal
In a presentation about health & safety in a new rail tunnel:

I'm assuming these Wannen are tanked areas though high groundwater levels, but I can't find any clues for Deckungssignal. Has anyone any ideas?

Many thanks
Claire Cox

maybe "signal"

das Deckungssignal: signal protecting point of danger ... die Kreuztafel: sign warning of entrance signal without distant signal or a .

overhead signal

Explanation:
As they are discussing various types of railroad signals, this seems a reasonable explanation.

agree  polyglot45: I sort of agree, except with your comment about the reliability of the UIC dico. It is a real curate's egg that old thing- it is not unreliable but most of the data is 40 years old with some abject horrors! RailLexic is only the same stuff++ on line

-> thanks (I think;-)) Dico compiled by people in the know so I always thought it was reliable! But perhaps it's ageing a bit. 1988 my edition, though the electronic version has the same term.

agree  Malina Alexandra Pricop: Yup. This is the one. And the RailLexic 4.0 also agrees.
