Die vereinbarte oder vorgeschriebene Transportart ist einzuhalten. Der Auftragnehmer ist verpflichtet, die Ware bis zum Zeitpunkt ihrer Übergabe am Erfüllungs- bzw. am Bestimmungsort zu versichern. Verrechnete Leihverpackungen wird nicht bezahlt, aber franko retourniert. Für Transportschäden als Folge ungenügender oder ungeeigneter Verpackung haftet der Auftragnehmer, auch wenn XXX der Ware an den Bestimmungsort übernehmen.

The problem is how to translate 'verrechnet' in this context.

  -> What I was trying to say was: Charges for returnable packaging do not need to be paid if the packaging is recovered. Is that better? Difficult to put into intelligible English.

disagree  philgoddard: I don't understand this, but it's nothing to do with packages - it's packaging.

disagree  writeaway: with philgoddard. unlike Dutch (where verpakking can be used in both ways), in English packages and packaging have 2 different meanings and they are not interchangeable. what does invoiced have to do with it?
