German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Transport / Transportation / Shipping / Lifting/handling
German term or phrase: Seiltraverse
Does anyone have any idea what the English equivalent of this lifting beam is? It's to be used for loading a nuclear transport flask onto and off boats/rail wagons, etc. They also talk about a 4-Laschen-Traverse, which I assume is a 4-point lifting frame. I wondered about a simple spreader beam for Seiltraverse, but can't find any corroboration...

4-point lifting frame

Explanation:
seems to be a good solution as you will see here:

http://www.baumaschinenmuseum.eu/exponate.pdf

It is a frame hanging on 4 ropes, which are hanged in the load hook

I would not use "spreader", because spreaders are standardised to fit onto containers, and that lifting frame you mentioned does not lift a standardised container.
