German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Transport / Transportation / Shipping / transport | | German term or phrase: Plattform (in this context) | Auf de Basis von Fahrzeug-Plattformen und deren standardisierte Module ....werden weitere hochwertige Aufgaben realisierbar sein.
The idea is that you have a "basic" vehicule and standard modules and you put them together on the building block principle for a maximum of permutations. But what do we call this "basis" or "core" in English in such a case? I know there is a word but it just won't come to the surface. Any help will be appreciated.
PS I have taken care to type the text exactly as it is, so if the grammar looks odd to you, that's how it is written in my text. |

| | (shared/common) vehicle platform(s) | Explanation: Believe it or not but the literal translation works here. In any case, the German term "Plattform" is a direct take-over of the English "platform". |
