German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Transport / Transportation / Shipping / train driver's cabin | | German term or phrase: Aufrusten des Fahrerstandes | | Sentence: "Leuchtet nach Aufrüsten des Fahrerstandes, wenn der Totmanntaster gedrückt wurde. Zusätzlich ertönt ein akustisches Warnsignal, wenn das Fahrzeug in Bewegung ist." Am I to understand that the signal lights up when the dead man's switch "rearms" (i.e., gets ready for another operation after being deactivated), or when it has been activated? (The signal light is yellow). |

| | setting up the operator's platform? | Explanation: Maybe this would work. I can't find any other meaning of Fahrerstand than operator's platform and Aufrüsten could mean set up.
It lights up after the operator's platform is set up if the dead man's switch was pushed |

| Grading comment Thanks for the effort, I suppose there's no other meaning but "rearm". The dead man's switch has to be pushed every few minutes to transmit to the machine that the driver is still alive. If it's not pushed, the train understands that something has happened to him and comes to a stop. 1 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |
