German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Transport / Transportation / Shipping / signals, signalling, locomotives
German term or phrase: Spitzen- und Schlußsignal
"Optische und akustische Signaleinrichtung: Spitzen und Schlußsignal; Typhon;"

This is almost the last query on this. For this first part, I have "Optical and acoustic signalling device:"

I would like to check the meaning of "Spitzen und Schlußsignal" - so far I have found locomotive headlight/lamp for the first one and release/disconnect signal for the latter. Can anyone confirm these or suggest the proper alternatives? Thanks.

Optical and acoustic signalling:
Explanation:
head- and tail-lights; Typhon.
I'm really surprised the writer didn't say "lights AT BOTH ENDS", because it certainly has. But forget the "devices" altogether - this works perfectly well.

Thank you David. Thanks also to CMJ Trans who said the following "HOwever, I would not refer to "device" which is always a "cop out" word in my book. Optical and acoustic signals or signalling systemls/equipment, would be better".

headlight is OK, for the same reason.
HOwever, I would not refer to \"device\" which is always a \"cop out\" word in my book. Optical and acoustic signals or signalling systemls/equipment, would be better
