German term or phrase: Ferkeltaxe
Anyone know how this term might be translated into English? Was and still is a type of train used on country branch lines in both West and East Germany, though with the closing of many such lines in East Germany in recent times its days may be numbered ...
Also known as "Blutblase" and one or two other rather uncomplimentary names.

Some context:

diesel railcar (piglet taxi)
Explanation:
DR BR772/772 / VT2.09: Diesel railcar nicknamed the "Ferkeltaxe" (Piglet taxi) because it carried just about everything on rural routes and "Blutblase" (Blood blister) because of its originally dark red color and the distinctive shape of the front. Model by Brawa.

Yes, I'll go for this but in deference to David will use "diesel railbus" instead of "diesel railcar".

neutral  David Moore: Sorry, but a railcar has eight wheels - in England at least. This is a diesel railbus.

-> It's called both on the site above. Langensch. says railcar for Triebwagen but railbus is probably O.K. See ya in Didcot ;-)

"piglet taxi" (but see explanation)

Explanation:
This is a very specific nickname. It is meant to sound very familiar.
This sort of train has many other nicknames as well. See:
