Plusieurs traductions possibles, 'bordure cultivée', extrémité de champ', 'bout de champ', cette-dernière étant la plus fréquente.
Par opposition au bord non culltivé, ou à l'intérieur du champ, le bout du champ est la partie cultivée qui sert au demi-tour des engins agricoles (de "wenden", faire demi-tour).
