Das Bordnetz-Steuergerät ist auch für die Glühlampenüberwachung (Ausfallkontrolle) zuständig. Diese Überwachung findet im ausgeschalteten Zustand (Kaltabfrage) und im eingeschalteten Zustand (Warmabfrage) statt.
Kaltabfrage
Die einzelnen Glühlampen werden nach dem Einschalten der Zündung viermal mit einem geringen Strom über eine Zeit von jeweils 500 ms bestromt. Durch den Stromwert kann das Bordnetz-Steuergerät eine defekte Glühlampe erkennen (s. Abb. 2).
Warmabfrage
Die Ansteuerung der einzelnen Glühlampen erfolgt durch Halbleiter-Bausteine, die sich im Bordnetz-Steuergerät befinden. Sie erkennen, ob eine Überlast, ein Kurzschluss, oder eine Unterbrechung vorliegt (s. Abb. 3).
