Voraussetzung für das Ausstrich-Tüpfelverfahren ist eine Kultivierungsmethode, bei der
sowohl die Lactobacillen als auch die pathogenen Stämme gutes Wachstum zeigen,
wobei sich vor allem die Anzucht von Gardnerella vaginalis als problematisch
herausstellte. Im Rahmen der Versuche wurden mehrere Kultivierungsmethoden für
Gardnerella vaginalis getestet, wobei sich neutralisierter MRS-Stärke-Agar (pH 6,7; 1%
Stärke) als bestes Nährmedium herausstellte.

MRS Amido Agar
Explanation:
Often abbreviated to MRS, this type of bacterial growth medium is so-mamed by its inventors: de Man, Rogosa and Sharp. Developed in 1960, this medium was designed to favour the luxuriant growth of lactobacilli for lab study. It contains sodium acetate, which suppresses the growth of many competing bacteria.
Impiego
MRS Agar e Broth, preparati secondo la formula di De Man, Rogosa e Sharpe, sono terreni selettivi indicati per l'isolamento dei lattobacilli.
