Probabilmente mi sto perdendo in un bicchier d'acqua, però non riesco a rendere questa espressione nel seguente contesto:

Per la traduzione esatta non mi viene in mente nulla al momento.
Però so come funziona (l'ho fatto a casa mia)
In presenza di decoder, il DVD recorder non va collegato direttamente al televisore, ma al decoder, perché la sorgente è il decoder. Il DVD recorder deve essere "a valle" (dopo) il decoder. Quindi si potrebbe forse scrivere:
Il DVD recorder deve essere collegato a valle del decoder.
