Vitigno a fruttobianco diffuso in Germania particolarmente nella zona del Reno e della Mosella. In Italia e\' particolarmente diffuso nell\'Oltrep• Pavese, in Emilia Romagna, in Trentino ed in Friuli Venezia Giulia dove si contano ben 15 D.O.C. di Riesling, nelle varieta\' \"italico\" e \"renano\". E\' un vitigno che si presta ottimamente anche alla produzione di vini spumanti secchi.
