Es kracht (ed anche es knallt) ha il senso di essere in presenza di scoppi, esplosioni, quindi in una situazione tutt'altro che tranquilla, ma movimentata, piena di sorprese. Ovviamente nella tua frase si gioca anche sul significato delle esplosioni e movimenti geologici. "Far scintille" mi sembra una possibilità per rendere questi significati in italiano.
