Je größer der Kopf, desto dünner wird die Pfanne, denn auch der Knochen soll ja möglichst weitgehend erhalten bleiben. Eine mittels Pressfit verankerte Pfanne verursacht beim Einbau ins Becken immer eine Deformation. Zwar ist es vor allem der Knochen, der sich beim Einschlagen verformt, aber das Metall bleibt auch nicht unverändert. Zudem ist das Becken kein homogener Werkstoff, und die Deformation erfolgt ungleichmäßig, vor allem im Bereich der ****Pfeiler****, welche die Pfanne in eine leicht ellipsoide Form drücken. Entscheidend ist jetzt, diese Deformation so gering zu
halten, dass der Schmierspalt davon nicht negativ
beeinflusst wird. Wir gehen davon aus, dass sich der Bereich der optimalen Schmierung zwischen 50 und 100 Mikrometer befindet.
