Im Rahmen der Technischen Orthopädie wird vom Körper des Patienten, mit Hilfe eines speziellen Vakuumkissens ein exaktes Modell abgeformt. Bei besonders schwierigen Versorgungen wird aus dieser Negativform, in Handarbeit ein Gipsmodell erstellt und die Schale mittels eines Unterdruck-Verfahrens gegossen.
