Die Holzoberfläche wird mit dem Entharzungsmittel (der Lauge) satt eingestrichen oder eingeschmiert, dann muß mit der Wurzelbürste kräftig gebürstet werden. Der Schaum, der sich beim Bürsten bildet, muß mit klarem Wasser und Schwamm gründlich entfernt werden. Die Tiefenwirkung der Entharzung ist sehr gering
(- 1 mm), deshalb nur ganz vorsichtig schleifen.
