"sparsam" nel senso che permette di non "sprecare" i cibi da grattugiare ovvero di grattugiare "fino in fondo" gli alimenti senza lasciare avanzi?!?! Come metterlo in un buon italiano?

forse sparsam si riferuisce al fatto che, diopo averlo grattuggiato, poi spargere il formaggio con parsimonia, cioè grazie all'Halteaufsatz non cade una valanga, non necessaria, sul piatto!

In questo caso Halte... avrebbe il significato di contenere!

Occorre un'illustrazione!!!
