Der Apfel vor dem Gesicht hindert uns daran, sich mit dem Dargestellten zu identifizieren und eigene Vorstellungen auf das Bild der Person zu projizieren. Der Betrachter bekommt die Rolle des Beobachters, des Sehenden, und nicht mehr die des Deutenden.
