I ***freni ad "otto"*** sono probabilmente i più conosciuti e diffusi. Ogni ditta del settore ne ha uno o più a catalogo e possono essere utilizzati in moltissimi modi, in funzione delle corde utilizzate e del tipo di frenata che si vuole ottenere. Nelle nostre prove abbiamo considerato la funzionalità generale di questo tipo di freno, soprattutto nel suo uso più diffuso ovvero come "otto normale" e "otto veloce" (vedi foto), così definiti a seconda del modo di passare la corda nell'attrezzo.
