Es kommen mehrstufige Inline-Pumpen zum Einsatz, die mit Drehstrommotoren ausgerüstet sind. Diese Pumpen sind nicht selbst ansaugend und bedürfen einer Wasservorlage, weil die Lager vom Fördermedium geschmiert werden. Es ist deshalb ein Trockenlaufschutz vorgesehen, der bei Wassermangel die Pumpe abschaltet (siehe Kap. 4).
Die Ansteuerung der Pumpen erfolgt grundsätzlich im DIREKTANTRIEB. Dies gilt auch, abweichend von den „Technischen Anschlussbedingungen an das Niederspannungsnetz" (TAB), für die 7,5 kW- und 11 kW - Pumpen, da ein sofortiges Einschalten der Pumpe hinsichtlich einer schnellen Wasserentnahme durch die Löschautomatiken gefordert ist. Wird trotzdem ein Stern-Dreieck-Antrieb gewünscht, sind entsprechende Druckerhöhungsanlagen lieferbar.

Rozruch bezpośredni silników powyzej określonej mocy jest zwykle zakazany technicznymi warunkami przyłącza, ustanawianymi przez operatorów sieci elektroenergetycznych.
