Man bezeichnet damit Prozesse, die als „Stapel“, das heißt streng nacheinander, abgearbeitet werden. Die Batchproduktion ist ein Spezialfall der diskontinuierlichen Produktion. Dabei wird eine durch das Fassungsvermögen eines Produktionsgefäßes (z.B. Hochofen, Reaktor, Mischer) begrenzte Materialmenge als Ganzes dem Arbeitssystem zugeführt und ihm als Ganzes nach Abschluss des Produktionsprozesses entnommen. Das Gegenstück zur chargenweisen Handhabung ist ein kontinuierlicher Prozess.

Las operaciones, o procesos por cargas, o batches (en muchos países hispanoparlantes también se dice así), son discontinuos, a diferencia de los continuos, tal como dice el contexto

La carga o batch se refiere al material cargado en el aparato, o equipo de proceso, para su procesamiento. Una vez terminado el proceso u operación, se descarga el producto, se prepara el nuevo batch y se vuelve a cargar producto. Procesos batch típicos: reactores, hornos de cerámica, de tratamiento térmico, convertidores, mezcladores, etc.
Procesos no batch, es decir continuos: coladas continuas de acero, trenes de laminación, hornos de cemento, fabricación de celulosa y papel, destilación, etc.

es gibt Batchbetrieb bei Wikipedia und dort einen portugiesischen Eintrag; LOTE, hab dann LOTE im zweisprachigen, spanisch-deutschen Wörterbuch nachgeschlagen und es heißt dort ebenfalls BATCH (im Dt.) im Sinne von Stapel, Anteil, Posten
