XXXXX wurde im Sommersemester 2001 von Studierenden der Regionalwissenschaften Lateinamerika als Teil des Zentrums Portugiesischsprachige Welt an der Universität zu Köln gegründet. Seit November 2003 ist connosco ein eigenständiger, gemeinnütziger Verein.
