German term or phrase: zurückstehen
"Muster einfräsen und XXX einschieben, der Verbinder muss ca. 0.4 mm zurückstehen".

No entiendo este concepto de "zurückstehen". En los diccionarios aparece como "quedarse/estar atrás", pero en este caso no sé si quiere decir que el conector debe "hundirse" unos 0,4 mm por debajo del perfil de la pieza o algo así.

Aquí les dejo un vídeo donde se ve una pieza muy similar a mi XXX, para que se hagan una idea del tipo de pieza que es.

Explanation:
Creo que se refiere no a hundirse, sino todo lo contrario, retrasarse o dejar un margen de 4 mm, nomarlmente para que se pueda mover.
