Mit vier verschiedenen Sprossenarten lassen sich großflächige Glascheiben in kleinformatigere aufteilen. Als echte Sprossen bezeichnet man die durchgehenden, glasteilenden Flügelsprossen (1). Dekorative Wirkung haben die aufgesetzten Ziersprossen (2), die im Isolierglas eingebetteten Ziersprossen (3) und die Kombination aus den beiden Techniken, die Optika-Glassprossen (4), die auf und zwischen dem Isolierglas liegen.
