Thanks for the sympathy, Philip, and thanks for the word, Nick. In the dictionary I find "assess a tax" for βεβαιώνω φόρο. Perhaps this gives a clue as to what συμβεβαιούμενα should be.

I don't have an answer, just thought I would express my sympathy. The time we translators waste on these arbitrary abbreviations is no longer justified in this age of word processing and macros. My own work spans several specialties and sometimes the same abbreviation has different meanings in each one. WRITE IT OUT IN FULL! I cry, but nobody listens.
