Asker: Thank you Nick. I think this expression may be very close to the one I am looking for, but it seems to me there are various expression we can use depending on the context. My context is this: There is a dialogue where person A says: 'She is like a mother to me. I would want to suffer if something happened to her'. Person B says: 'κακό του κεφαλιού σου!' Then person A replies: 'Touch wood' Would your expression still be good for this dialogue? In the meantime, I found another idiom, which could be good: 'on your own head be it' (although this was in a book of idioms translated as 'στο κεφάλι σου να πέσει'). What do you all think?

I suppose acting against your own good would be OK kind of including "loss", funeral" and ..trying to think of something better - worn out right now - I can also come up with "should have known better" though not strong enough.. If you had known better, you would not be doing κακό του κεφαλιού σου...think about it
