"Chandi" (ચંડી) = GODDESS, "Chaandi" (ચાંદી) = SILVER
Explanation:
There're two different words nearby to your saying and you would realize that just by missing / adding a single "a" letter in the middle of the word, the entire meaning gets differed.

"Chandi" (ચંડી) as a female name is referred to a Hindu Goddess, like "Chandi Chamunda" is GODDESS CHAMUNDA.

"Chaandi" (ચાંદી) means SILVER metal.

Here, pl. note that English Letter "D" is used to refer two different Gujarati Letters called "ડ" (Thirteenth Consonent of Gujarati alphabet) and "દ" (Eighteenth Consonent of Gujarati alphabet).

Pl. feel free to ask for any clarifications.

CHANDI also means as a hot-tempered or fierce woman.

The difference between two different Gujarati Letters called "ડ" and "દ" would be realized if you happen to know pronounciation difference of alphabets "D" in cities names, DETROIT and DELHI.

silver, a proper noun, the Mother Goddess

Explanation:
Yes it does mean silver, though in communities especially from the north-west regions of India the word is also used as a name of a girl. As in Chandibai. If the 'd' in chandi is pronounced as in 'dark'(ડાર્ક) and not as 'the'(દ) it is one of the names of the Mother Goddess which the Hindus revere. ચંડી (chandi) or ચંડિકા(chandika) is the Goddess.
