it would be shu kaam hatu meaning
'what was the work' here a person ha asked in the context of 'what can i do for you?' or 'what was the work for me?'

Explanation:
Actually what you might have come across would have been " shu kam hatu?"' though it would surely sound as you have indicated. It literally means " What work did you have (of me)?" Shu/Su -What, kam-work, hatu-have
