agree  Narendra Upadhyaya: Dear Punam, instead of starting your sentence with "Why did you..." couldn't the "How did you.." would have been better & correct sounding?

  -> dear narendra, how did you would not sound appropriate in this sentence as the person asks 'why did one think' rather 'than how one thought'. of course! 'kem' does mean 'how' and 'why'. it also depends in which context the statement is used.

neutral  Goldenstat: this is me being english but i see no 'shun' in there and i see a 'kem' to me kem means why i also see 'upar' does that not mean up, above etc?
